There’s Profit in Non-Profits

April 23, 2021 8:31 AM | Jenny Taylor (Administrator)

When you look around your community, you will see many charitable organizations known to always ask for donations of your time, money or other resources.  Without a second look, you might not realize they could also benefit from your professional expertise—and be willing to pay for it!

What’s more, lending your marketing expertise to their campaigns can serve as a multiplier—helping them expand their reach to develop more volunteers and donors.  When you grow beyond the role of volunteer to earn a seat of trusted partner at the planning table, the value you’re able to add their overall mission grows exponentially.

I’ve always been active with community organizations.  Right out of college I went to work for a local office for the American Cancer Society managing their education programs and fund-raising events, and so began my path with community organizations.  Then to my involvement with Scouting when my son was young by serving in various positions at the Pack and Troop level, and now working with local community organizations by serving on boards, volunteering time, talent and treasure or making an impact by participating in fund-raising campaigns.

This passion for the work our local community organizations do has now transferred to serving those organizations by assisting them with creating memorable campaigns or events through branded promotional items and printing. This is one reason I joined the PPAF board. I wanted to give back to our great association. Our company has built a large customer base of numerous local non-profits by being involved and understanding their needs, wants and pain points.  By understanding the organizations, working with the staff and volunteers, we have found a way to plan for their needs in advance.  Knowing what’s next for these organizations, we take advantage of sales, EQP opportunities and relationships with suppliers to meet their expectations and budgets.  Working as a steward for the organization makes us aware of what’s needed to help them continue their mission, protect their brand, and build community recognition and support.

Don’t get me wrong, we don’t do this for free, hence the title “There’s profit in non-profit”.  We have built a nice customer base of over 25 non-profit organizations. They add nicely to the Kwixar bottom line, but also gives our employees the opportunity to feel good about serving these organizations in a bit different way.

Kwixar is a distributor based in Winter Springs, FL and proud to be a member of PPAF.  PPAF Board Member, Jean Bruckert has been with the company since 2007, and leads this small office of 4 employees who enjoy working with our fabulous non-profit and for-profit customers.
